Alastair Irons, Associate Head of School, Computing and Mathematics, at Northumbria University.

Alastair has lectured in Computing since 1992, after joining Northumbria (then Newcastle Poly) from ICI on Teesside. His main computing interests are in Systems Design with UML, professional and ethical issues in computing, current concerns and challenges in computing, user centred methods, and using IT in education. Alastair’s current research interests focus on educational issues, principally around assessment, learning environments, and the IT as a teaching and learning tool.
